Yes, I know. I'm updating on pain of death! Well hurtness anyway.

Firstly, bestest news! I got a new job! Yay! *does little happy new job dance thing*
So I'm starting on monday at Uni as a lecturer. Gonna teach all teh cute little 1st years programming (and I'm talking about cute _girl_ 1st years)

Secondly, I bought magic cards, yay! Tons and tons and I want to buy more. Must! Have! More! Cards!

It's also cool cos all my friends here in pta are really getting into magic now. So its really fun to play multiplayer games now. (Not that it wasn't fun, its jsut even more fun)

Got some new books as well, yay!

Erm, oh yes! Very important news. Got two new kittens in the house! W00t! abotu 3 weeks old now and the cuteseteset thigns under the sun. yay!

To those of you who might have been trying to contact me on Yahoo Messenger, I'm sorry but my yahoo at work appears to be rather completely broken. That and I have trouble getting online at home. Will hopefully figure out what's wrong and have things fixed soon. We apologise for the inconvenience.

It's that time of the year again where giving is the best thing in the world. I saw this on a Friend's LJ last year & really loved the idea so again please post your address & wishlists. Don't be shy make sure you do post...

Yes I know I've been missing for a while... Its just been pretty damn busy... and stuff.

So... MTG update first (as foretold by the prophecy):

Playing in the Ravnica release league. Well, technically played my 5 games, won two of them. Which is probably like equal to the total games I've won in any league before this so I'm kinda impressed with myself. Seems that the dream of playing pro-Magic is only 20 years or so away...

Right-o. Next thingies:

I'm considering changing jobs. Yessiree this whole 'coding' thing is getting a bit boring to tell the truth. I don't really know if it's my scene. I mean I'm pretty good at it, and its not too bad, but I'm really feeling like doing something else. I don't want to spend 10 years working as a programmer only to realise it sucks, and then having to start afresh in something else...

So, I'm looking around for a new job. I got an idea for one, just got to find out if I have any chance of actually getting it.

Another interesting development is that my supervisor for my Masters dissertation appears to be quitting his job as a lecturer. If this happens I might consider changing my topic, becuase I kind of stumbled on something that I think would be a lot more interesting than my current topic, especially for me.

That and I'm writing exams this week (and a little bit of next week), so its gonna get kind of hectic soon. Oh well, at least it'll be over then and I can focus on other important things in my life. Like Kate :D

Well as per tradition, MTG update.

Well Ravnica was release online so I um bought myself a whole whopper of Ravnica cards. I also entered a 9th edition league. At the moment I'm not doing all that well having won 1 matchout of about 7 or 8 so far. It jsut sucks when people get both thier game winning rares out in a game, and you look at them and go, "What cool rares do I have? Oh wait this legendary elf that gives all other elves +1/+1, but wait, I HAVE NO OTHER ELVES!" Oh well, that's life I suppose... at least I'm not totally sucking, and I at least win one game oout of the three played in a match.

Other news... well my varsity fees are sorted out, which was a BIG worry for me. Varsity actually owes _me_ money, which is nice.

My studies are going well, if i work my ass off for the last two exams I might just walk away with a distiniction... :p

Right, the halloween party was fun, I dunno if I've written about it already, but anyway, there was a crap load of people at zeps in all kindsa funky outfits. The only problem being the 1/2 hour wait at the bar to get drinks :(

Righto. Time to get back to work...

Right, a quick disclaimer before I get started. The type of music mentioned mostly in this article is not really my absolute favourite kinda of muisc. It's not that I hate it, but... it's not my favourite.

Ok, then disclaimer not withstanding, this weekend ROCKED! VnV Nation really are pretty damn cool. And what a fucking awesome stage presence! It really really rocked. Plus they (Mark and Ronan), look like pretty cool people (got to meet them for like 10 seconds, hopefully somebody out there will be impressed by that...

GDA, the opening band, and my one friend's band, was also pretty cool. Pity about the sound issues, but they did rock! Yay!

Yeah, that and I drank quite a bit during the concert :D always fun! Luckily for me I had this massively oily breakfast on Sunday (at like 4pm, but what the hell).

Hmmm, and, of course, I got to play some MTG. Which was really cool. And I bought two new Ian M. Banks books. Finished the first and got like 10% into the second. Yay for sci-fi!

*sighs* And now its back to the daily grind. What fun :p

Went climbing last night. Was good as always, I felt a little bit not 100% but I enjoyed it none the less. Might be a little out of practise, or just plain tired.

Desperately waiting for the end of the month so I can buy MTG stuff again :D I know, I know, I hsould probably seek professional help, but the bloody comic book store keeps being closed when I wanna go there :p

I chatted to my supervisor about my Masters disseration. Seems we're both thinking along the same lines and I'll be able to do something pretty cool for it. Which is very neat. Also got praise from another lecturer for my assignment that I did last minute on monday. So I'm assuming she hasn't read all of it yet :p

YAY! I might be actually going to see VnV! :D Now I just need to get some of thier music so I don't stand around all night on the dance floor when they play. It's gonna be cool seeing Paul and GDA in thier first real big break :D

Yeah, that's me quick update. Looks like I'm gonna be pretty busy coming up on this end of year time period. Oh well that's life.

Man, has this been a busy week. Mostly why I haven't been able to update at all. Monday I had to sort out some testing systems at work and get things ready for a demo, even though I wasn't gonna be at work the rest of the week. Sucked...

Then from tuesday through to friday I had class. 8:00 to 17:00 every day. I was sooo wasted by thursday even that I just wanted to sleep. But it was just assignments and presentations to prepare and stuff. Luckily some of my classes finished a little realy so I had time to relax a bit on campus :p See all the people I haven't seen in like ages and stuff...

And then I had such a busy weekend on top of it. Went to zeplins on friday night. :D was lotsa fun, the retro floor rocked. All kinds of old school goodnees (old-school being like 1990s of course). Even slipped out to Adult World with my girls :p Was highly disappointing though... Lotsa really lame porn, and like an entire shelf of very similar looking dildos/vibrators. And some really creepy looking blow-up dolls...

Then got a lift home with Nyte, the plan being that we would discuss some business ideas the next morning. Didn't really work out like that but we did run off to Darienne's party. Was lotsa fun. Had way to many vodka and something cocktails :p

Then, just as I thought I was finally gonna go home I got dragged off to a braai at Muggles and Kat's place. Was very cool and the whole Gartenderasche there. Braai-ed and drank. Good party.

Finally got home now. *sighs* I'm kinda paste. Still have to work on assignment for monday evening and do a ton of other stuff.

*double sigh* Through this busy week I've been kinda unable to keep up with my online friends. Don't worry I still love you guys :p And miss you as well (especially especially especially Kate, who seems to have disappeared... Love you lots still).

Righto. Now off to work or sleep. Gotta decide which one first though...

Well its not monday, yet, but its gonna be a fun one... having to go install a test system at the other company that's working on the stuff with me. Fun fun fun.

This weekend was interesting. Read sci-fi friday night, played paintball saturday morning (was cool 'cept if got shot to shit :p). Went to a 21st saturday evening. Music not entirely my scene but it was pretty cool. Went out afterwards but was kinda tired and had a headache so I didn't stay out too long.

Sunady (today) moved my pc, hopefully to a better spot. And then read book two of the sci-fi series. Now I', womdering if there's a book three. Cos the story can stand on its own but... A third book would be pretty cool.

Yeah, just a quick update.

Righto not all that much has happened since my last update, mostly work work work, and some more work, and then when I thought it was all over work.

When not working I've been trying to get people to go play paintball. Mostly cos I've actually bought the new gun now and I really wanna try it out with proper paint. So gonna try to organise paintball for saturday (everybody interested please take note).

So, last weekend I went to Lebotlane (sp?) in the middle of nowhere in North West Province. There's like nothing there really, 'cept like sand, and thorn trees and a couple of shacks and this long long dirt road.
Was kinda interesting though the whole research thing but I so much rather would have gone out friday night and then slept late than trekking all the way out there. Oh well helps me with my masters so I can't really complain.

Did some more mean climbing :p I can actually get somewhere with the horrible 24 in the climbing gym. Ducky, the bastard, of course managed to finish it :p But I feel like I'm really gettin hardcoreder than before with climbing, especially seeing as I can boulder for protracted periods of time now, not jsut 5 minutes and then I collapse.

*sighs* I miss Kate. Seems she doesn't have internet access at home so I really find it hard to keep in contact with her... sucks. I dunno when last I had a proper, non-text message conversation with her. Feels like ages. *pouts* Oh well... that's a long distance relationship with you.

See, this is the only reason I keep working is so I can buy cool stuff. *grins* Or at least keep this high stress job....

Anyway, got my self an air canister, and a hopper for the new paintball gun I'm going to buy, end of this month. Just a quick specs list for those of you who might be interested in that kinda thing:
Hopper: Revolution.
Air: 48ci 3500psi HPA (with a cool bottle cover)
Gun: JT Quadra.

*grins*

That and next month Ravnica: City of Guilds should be available (next MTG set if you're wondering). Its looking like its gonna be a really nice set, with all kindsa neat mechanis and ideas in it. And seeing as I haven't bought anything MTG related in about 2 months, there's probably gonna be some expenses at least this coming month in the MTG department. That way at least I can continue the tradition of my MTG: Update on this journal... :p

Work is just loadsa stress, so I'd rather not talk too much about it, except to say I might not actually die in the upcoming weeks. The programming gods (capricious and demented as they are) might be smiling on me. Or just playing a cruel joke. (So long none of them turn into a bull or a swan or something)

Yeah, but life's good. I have a wondeful girlfriend who is just unfortunately millions of miles away :D I love her lots and I hope she's having fun :p

Right. So. A while back I mentioned I was gonna join a research group on campus. I now realised there's gonna be actual work involved :( This weekend we (the research group) are going to siyabuswa, this small rural community, to hold a research workshop. The problem is I had basically forgotten about this happening so yesterday when we had our meeting, I was like, "oh fuck". So its a little last minute.

Anyway it should be interesting, except maybe for the fact that I'm probably gonna be the only white person for 50 kms, but yeah we get to meet the Mayor,a dn have a braai, and 'network' with important people so it's all good.

Went to another braai yesterday, more drinking! Yay! Saw some friends I haven't seen in ages. Met one or two new people. Was all very cool.

Plus had kung-fu with one of my girls, which is always good. Having chinese food with a friend and perving over the little chinese girls is probably one of my favourite things to do :D

Oh yeah, there was also the braai at ducky's place. Was very very cool. Got plastered and had a bit of a hungover day at work, but it all ended well.
